Freewave makes use of one of my favorite shapes! My grandmother's quilting shaper! The
“thread of textiles” is always present in my work. The first part of the process was to paint a large sheet of patterns using watercolor mixed with white gouache. I cut the art into hexagon shapes and stitched them at random onto another watercolor painting. The painting underneath the hexagons was the leftover painting not used in the Snowfall piece. The final process was to add some Sashiko stitching.
